At the southern end of Clayton County, Lovejoy is a small but blossoming city. It’s convenient location offers the amenities of small town living and ease of access to many major Metro cities and is just minutes away from many landmarks.

Clayton County Public Schools offers the best in educational programs and services for students from kindergarten through twelfth grade. In addition to the general and college-preparatory course offerings, each high school offers a vocational/technical facility through the CTAE program. Clayton State University opened in 1969 as Clayton Junior College. The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia elevated the institution to baccalaureate status in 1986, to university status in 1996 and approved the present name on May 18, 2005. This three acre park features a lake, walking trail, gazebo and pavilion, perfect for a family fun day, picnic, or group outing. Next to the Mayor’s Park is the Lovejoy Community Center. Here visitors are offered an array of activities for the entire family. Visitors have access to an array of amenities at Lovejoy’s facilities and several special events are hosted throughout the year. Take a stroll downtown and you will find the Open Air Market. Open daily, this urban outdoor market welcomes vendors of all types- crafts, produce, antiques, and collectibles. Vendors are open for business 7am-7pm. Venture outside of the Downtown Lovejoy area to Lovejoy Road and there you will find Green Park. This park houses 2 full size basketball courts, 1 youth basketball court, a playground and picnic pavilion and is a quick walk from much of the residential community.  

Just minutes away, residents and visitors enjoy amenities such as the Gerald Mathews Soccer Complex, the South Clayton Recreation Center, the Lovejoy Library, and the Atlanta Motor Speedway.

City Events

The City of Lovejoy proudly hosts several family events throughout the year. These events give residents and visitors an opportunity to meet and speak with Lovejoy’s Mayor, Council, Police Department, and staff. Many local businesses are active community partners and are present at City Events such as the annual FallFest which sees thousands of participants each year. Events are a great opportunity for business owners to give back to the community and connect with residents.
