In 2014, Lovejoy made it’s television debut with the filming of Vampire Diaries which aired in November of 2014. The popular TV series was filmed at Cinema Greens’ Movie Ranch. Cinema Greens is a greens & set dressings rental company and filming location that has serviced hundreds of movies amongst its founding members. With the recent boom in the film industry, they have relocated from California to Lovejoy, GA.
Lovejoy residents can look for some familiar sights on the silver screen in upcoming films such as The Phenom. Movie fever has grown county-wide with the filming of popular movies such as The Hunger Games in Clayton County. Craig Miller, co-president of the Georgia Production Partnership told the AJC “Clayton has got a great beautiful look. It’s attractive for a lot of scenarios. It allows you to be very close to all of the production center of Atlanta, but it has a different look of being out in the countryside. And that’s good for Clayton.” Clayton County has been a destination for film makers with the filming of classics such as Smokey and the Bandit and Gone With the Wind since the 1970s. With the development of Film Studios such as Pinewood Studios and Tyler Perry Studios close by and the influx of supporting businesses, Lovejoy’s film potential continues to thrive.
